Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Resume Trail handles when you create, improve, and manage resumes.

Last updated: November 4, 2026

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address and basic Google profile information when you choose Google sign-in.
  • Resume and career information: the content you type, import, upload, or ask the assistant to edit, including contact details, employment history, education, skills, and job descriptions.
  • Workspace information: resume settings, templates, assistant conversations, AI usage, and account activity needed to operate the service.
  • Billing information: transaction identifiers, product, amount, currency, payment status, and subscription status. Our payment provider processes payment-card details; Resume Trail does not store complete card numbers.
  • Technical information: essential cookies, request metadata, and security or diagnostic logs used to keep the service reliable and prevent abuse.
  • Usage and error information: pages visited, product events such as creating a resume or selecting a template, browser and device type, approximate location, and technical error reports. These are tied to a random identifier kept in your browser, not to your name or email address, and do not include your resume content.

How we use information

We use information to provide and secure the service, authenticate users, save and export resumes, process requested AI features, track AI usage and manage subscriptions, troubleshoot problems, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information or use resume content for targeted advertising.

Google account data

Google sign-in provides your verified email address and basic profile information. We use it only to create or connect your Resume Trail account and maintain your signed-in session. You can revoke Resume Trail's access from your Google Account settings.

AI processing and service providers

When you use AI-assisted writing or import features, the content needed to complete your request may be sent to OpenAI for processing. We also rely on service providers for hosting, database storage, authentication, payments, and infrastructure, including Google, Cloudflare, Neon, Vercel, and Dodo Payments. We use PostHog for product analytics and Sentry for error monitoring. They process information under their own terms and privacy commitments and only for the services they provide to us.

Cookies and security

We use essential, signed cookies to maintain an anonymous or signed-in workspace and to protect the Google OAuth flow. Product analytics keeps its random identifier in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Retention and your choices

We retain account and resume information while your workspace is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal information. Some records may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security and accounting purposes.

International processing and children

Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Resume Trail is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to data processing in their jurisdiction.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service changes. Material updates will be reflected by the date above. For privacy questions or data requests, email support@resumetrail.app.
