Entry-level resume templates for your first job

For a first full-time job, show what you've done so far: internships, projects, part-time work and certifications. These six templates have a place for each, and most of the samples show a career at or near that stage.

Entry Level

One column, Source Sans

Built for this stage, with your target job in blue under your name and room for projects and awards. Its header reads contact details first, so for online forms pick SWE or Garamond.

SWE

One column, Lato

Company-first entries and project links. Its sample has one internship and one teaching role, and it still fills the page.

Use this template: SWE

Garamond

One column, Garamond

The sample runs from an internship through a junior job to a first analyst role, a good model after one or two jobs.

Use this template: Garamond

Tech Engineer

One column, Computer Modern

Has a section for projects and room for certifications. The sample's student project, a Formula SAE suspension, shows how to describe hands-on work.

Use this template: Tech Engineer

Generic

One column, Source Sans

A compact skills table at the foot, useful when your tools are the strongest thing you can offer.

Writing a summary without a job title to lean on

Say what you just finished, your best evidence, and the job you want. For example: Recent marketing graduate with two internships running paid campaigns, comfortable in GA4 and HubSpot, looking for a coordinator role. Our resume summary examples show more, and the skills section guide helps with what comes after it.

How this differs from a student resume

On a student resume, education always leads. Once you've left school, it stays on top only until your work is stronger than your degree. After a year or two in a relevant job, move Experience above it and drop details such as your GPA and coursework.

Common questions

What if I have no work experience at all?
Lead with education, then projects, volunteer work and activities. All of them can use the same format as a job: what you did, and what came of it.
Is the Entry Level template ATS-friendly?
It failed our check, because its three-part header reads your contact details back before your name. SWE, JV and Garamond suit the same stage and passed, so use one of those for online forms.
